Most of the electronic resources such as online journals, ebooks, or databses found on the Colby Libraries' website and catalog are licenesed for use by Colby students, faculty and staff only. In almost all cases, the publisher authenitcates users coming in via our campus network automatically. However, when accessing these resources from off-campus, you must be authenticated by either using a Virtual Private Network (VPN), or by entering your credentials when prompted by our proxy server. Information regarding each option is outlined below.
You must link to our subscription databses only via the Libraries' website or catalog for full access.
Links or bookmarks that are not on Colby's Web pages may not be formatted properly. Because of this, the Web site you're trying to access will not recognize you as a Colby student, staff or faculty and your access may be restricted.
If you have questions or need help accessing our online resources, please contact support@colbylibraries.zohosupport.com.
Using a Virtual Private Network (VPN) is the preferred option for accessing licensed library resources from off-campus. Colby ITS has detailed information here.
To access these resources from off campus without using a VPN service, you will be asked to provide your Colby username (as in your Colby email address) and password when you click on a link from our website or catalog.
