Using Mathematics Subject Classification (MSC) Codes.

Find them under the FREE TOOLS tab.

The codes help describe the content of the publication. There are primary and secondary codes, and some coding has changed over the years. You can see the changes in coding for a more comprehesive search.

Use the codes in tandem with your search terms to narrow your search.

Search MathSciNet

MathSciNet is the database of choice for searching mathematical literature. It requires some getting used to, since it is not as intuitive as many of our other databases. You can check out some of the tutorials on the left, as well as make an appointment with Suzi to get some help in order to search more efficiently.

Finding Books

You will come across book as well as journal articles in MathSciNet.

Sometimes the  icon connect you CBBcat to see if we have the book, but it isn't always reliable. You should make sure to doublecheck yourself before you request the book from other libraries:
