SUGGEST A PURCHASE

The Library purchases and licenses materials in a variety of formats to support all areas of the curriculum as well as the general information needs of the Colby Community.

Science faculty may request books by:

  1. Cut and paste your requests from the monthly email of book announcements from Suzi. Rank orders as follows: #1 for books Colby must own, and #2 for books we do not need to buy if owned by Bowdoin or Bates.
  2. SUGGEST BOOKS, AUDIO RECORDINGS, VIDEOS/DVDS, ETC.
Please check the online catalog first to see if your selections are already in our collection.
If you wish to be notified when the book is processed, please so indicate.

SUGGEST JOURNAL, PERIODICAL OR MAGAZINE SUBSCRIPTIONS (new subscriptions are reviewed by the librarians on an annual basis.)

RESERVES

Course reserves are listed through the Library Catalog specifically through the Reserves function. E-reserves (electronic links to articles or PDFs) are accessed through the course reserve page only. It is often wise to show this feature to students, especially first years or sophomores.

Our policy for reserve readings follows that for the rest of the Colby Libraries.
Readings for science classes are processed in the Science Library. Please use the Reserve Reading form (available at the Circulation desk or printable here) when you bring in materials. We will need the course information, loan period, and how you wish the entry to appear in the reserve listing.

If you wish to put a key on reserve for your lab, we will need the key itself, (identified by building and room number), and a printed list of the people in the course authorized to check out the key.

Please allow 1-2 working days (Monday-Friday) for submissions to be processed. Amy Heggie, Library Assistant, processes all reserves. Student assistants cannot process reserves.
