New York Amsterdam News (Historical)
This leading Black newspaper of the 20th century reached its peak in the 1940s. The Amsterdam News was a strong advocate for the desegregation of the U.S. military during World War II, and also covered the historically important Harlem Renaissance.  Coverage is from 1922 to 1993.

African American Newspapers (Historical)
African American Newspapers, 1827-1998 provides online access to approximately 270 U.S. newspapers chronicling a century and a half of the African American experience. The collection features papers from more than 35 states—including many rare and historically significant 19th century titles.

A full-text web site of historical and contemporary press from African American papers.  Includes AFRO Black History Archives, plus contemporary African American newspapers from across the country.
