Maine-Specific Data

The Maine Department of Education is a great place to start. See the Maine Data Warehouse for data tables on a range of issues, such as: 

The Maine Education Data Management System / MEDMS provides public reports on certification, No Child Left Behind, and student enrollment. 

Kids Count / Maine Children's Alliance provides data tables on poverty, family well-being, & completion rates in their data center

There are also limited PDF reports at Maine Education Policy Research Institute on K-12 education and at the US Regional Education Laboratory / Northeast and Islands program, with studies on e.g. rural schools in Maine. For full data, you would need to contact project authors.

National sources for education data include: 

Child Trends DataBank has summary charts and reports on child welfare, well-being, demographics, development, education, and health. 

The U.S. Institute for Educational Sciences has education and finance data across the US, as well as tools for analyzing NCES education data in its data center.  

The National Center for Educational Statistics has quick tables and information on public and private schools, and school districts, including: 

The Office for Civil Rights links to data on access and equity in US education. 

International Sources for Education Data

International sources for education data include: 

The NCES International Comparisons in Education includes statistical data for cross-national comparisons of education indicators and assessments from Canada, several European countries, Japan, and Russia.

OECD Education Statistics include excel charts of attainment and expenditures as well as math/science performance, by country.

UNESCO-United Nations has detailed education data in customized tables.

The International Data Resource Center / IDRC is a directory for data at the ICPSR social science data repository. 

The World Bank has education indicators and statistics on learning outcomes, attainment, and equity across countries.
