TO COMBINE LIKE TERMS TOGETHER: use OR

Surreal* OR Dada* (Hint: use the * [asterisk symbol] to retrieve the root word and spelling variations, e.g. painting, painters, etc.)

TO COMBINE DIFFERENT CONCEPTS: use AND

Picasso AND Surrealism

TO USE BOTH METHODS FOR A SMART SEARCH:

Search Tips

Use One Search to:

  • Search across newspaper, journals, CBBcat and more
  • To discover a variety resources from the Colby Libraries
  • Use the left hand frame to limit your results

Use the CBBCat to:

  • Find books, video, primary resources on a topic at Colby, Bates, Bowdoin.
  • Find what art journal titles we have in print, and request them from storage. 
  • Request an item from Bates, Bowdoin, or NExpress, when it's not at Colby

Use WorldCat to:

  • Locate hard to find exhibition catalogs, not available through CBB, and submit and ILL request
  • Locate contextual studies including the artist, and submit an ILL request
  • Locate existence possible primary sources, follow through with possible ILL.
