Find Data

Find datasets on Google

As a last resort, sometimes an advanced Google search can turn up research data which is not yet in a repository.

Guidelines for searching:

  • Try starting at the Google dataset search page, rather than the general page.
  • Try "site:.gov" or "site:.edu" to pull information from government or higher education websites
  • Try "filetype:.csv" for excel files or "filetype:.pdf" for pdf summaries.
  • If you can't find a topic in the databases above, try searching for "Tokyo railway dataset" or "Tokyo railway data" (in multiple languages, if necessary). "open data" "research data" or "dataset" may all be good terms to use.
